Two nations whose peaceful relations and undefended border are World reknown, were once locked in a bloody conflict. For Canada, as a British Colony, it was a time where American invasion was halted. For Americans, this Conflict was known as "The Second War for Independence". Many reasons are counted as causes and factors. This Tour is a view of many of the sites of conflict and strategic importance. 80% of the Battles in the War of 1812 were fought in the Niagara Region.
Your tour includes a visit to Old Fort Niagara - built by the French, won by the British and then by the United States. Tour the Fort and its visitors Center. Then travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake and tour Fort George, the British fortifications rebuilt to their 1812 standards. After a delicious lunch, visit the Lundy's Lane Battlefield and Museum - site of the bloodiest battle ever fought on Canadian soil. Your tour will pass sites of interest such as Queenston Heights, Chippewa, and Fort Erie.
All Tours start at the Spirit of Niagara Welcome Center and are from 10am to 5pm.
